Stephen Joseph “Steve” Moity, of Pearl River, Louisiana, passed away on April 20, 2026, at the age of 74. He was born on September 16, 1951, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Lawrence “Chick” Moity and the late Marian Rizan Moity. Steve’s love story with his beloved wife, Rosemary Albert Moity, lasted 54 memory-filled years. Together, they raised a loving family, including two children, Michelle Moity Martrain and Stephen Joseph Moity, Jr. (Megan Maraia). His joy multiplied with the arrival of each grandchild: Alexander Joseph Martrain, Abigail Rose Martrain, Parker Albert Moity, and Cooper Joseph Moity. He also leaves behind two brothers, David Moity and Michael Moity, and a host of extended family members and friends, all of whom he loved greatly. He was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish and graduated from Chalmette High School with the Class of ’69. He served in the United States Air Force Reserve. An electrician by trade, Steve was known for his strong work ethic and his commitment to doing a job well, qualities that served him throughout his years with IBEW Local 130 and in his work with IATSE Local 39, where he worked as a stagehand. He found solace and joy in fishing. He was a gifted story teller, always ready to share a memory from the past. Steve could often be found sitting on his backyard swing, surrounded by his garden as he enjoyed life’s quiet moments. As a parishioner of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, he found a sense of peace and connection that reflected his values and the life he lived. While his presence will be greatly missed, his legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the love he shared. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Audubon Funeral Home in Slidell. A Funeral Mass will begin in the chapel at noon. Steve will be laid to rest in Audubon Memorial Gardens Cemetery following services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital are appreciated.
