With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to Linda Couget Naquin who passed away at the age of 76. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Linda was the loving wife to the late Robert R. Naquin Sr. She was the caring mother to Robert R. Naquin (Donna). Proud grandmother of Robert “Blake” Naquin (Jodi), Tyler B. Naquin (Lindsey); great-grandmother of Blaize M. Naquin, Blakley A. Naquin, Robert “Elliot” Naquin and Everett R. Naquin; sister of Velma M. Couget, Jean M. Couget III, and Paul M. Couget; aunt too many nieces and nephews. Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Jean M. Couget Jr., and Joyce M. Lawrence. A passionate traveler, Linda roamed the globe, collecting adventures and stories along the way. When not exploring the world, she found solace in the gentle rhythm of knitting needles, crafting intricate designs with care and creativity. Her handiwork, a testament to her patience and skill, brought warmth and comfort to those fortunate enough to receive her creations. An avid enthusiast of classic cars, Linda reveled in the nostalgia of vintage automobiles, attending shows and rallies with unwavering enthusiasm. Yet, amidst her myriad passions, her greatest joy was found in the company of her beloved family. She showered her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with boundless affection, delighting in their laughter and milestones. Her love knew no bounds. May she rest in eternal peace. Marilyn Margaret Chiappetta Westfall

Marilyn Margaret Chiappetta Westfall, beloved sister, mother, and mawmaw; passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024 at her home in Slidell, La.; surrounded by family. Marilyn was born in 1946 in New Orleans to parents Paul Chiappetta and Bernadine Ross. She attended St. Mary of the Angels and Holy Angels Schools and would later remain a dedicated parishioner of St. Mark and St. Luke Parishes. She married Master Sergeant David Earl Westfall in 1969 and began a career in education, earning degrees from University of Louisiana at Lafayette and later the University of Southern Mississippi (USM). A lifelong educator and generous spirit, Marilyn touched thousands of lives as a teacher and administrator during her career in the St. Bernard Parish School System. She took pride in her Irish, Italian and St. Bernard roots, and had a deep love of family and community. Marilyn will be remembered by her two sons, David Westfall II (Sarah) and Darren Westfall (Brittney Barras); her three granddaughters Amelie, Wilhelmina, and Isla; her brother Glenn Chiappetta (Pam), nephew Ross (Mallory); her niece Anna Christman (Tim); her sister-in-law Lynnda Chiappetta, nephews Kevin (Karen) and Paul; and her brother-in-law Frank Westfall (Sue), nephew Crease (Jennifer) and niece Holly. Her husband, David Westfall, died in 2013. She is also preceded in death by her sister Shirley Chiappetta Lawson, her brother Paul Chiappetta, and her niece Shirley Chiappetta. Lorraine Campeaux Theobold

Lorraine Campeaux Theobold received her wings on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at the age of 85. Lorraine was the wife of the late Christopher Earl Theobold, Sr. and the beloved mother of Christopher Theobold, Jr (Debra), Michael Theobold (Theresa), Glenn Theobold (Gina), and the late Lynne Theobold Bernard (Durwood). She is survived by her beloved sister, best friend, and caregiver Marilyn Campeaux. Lorraine is the grandmother of Devin Theobold, Trey Theobold, Robyn Bailey, Daniel Theobold, Nicole Janovsky, Lauren Theobold, Rhett Bernard, and Lainie Theobold, and great grandmother of Julianna Bailey, Serena Janovsky, and Alexandra Bailey. Lorraine is preceded in death by her parents George and Celeste Campeaux, and two brothers Gerald and Howard Campeaux. Lorraine was born in New Orleans, La., and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish before settling in Covington, La. Throughout her life, Lorraine embodied warmth, kindness, and a zest for life. In her youth, she found joy in the simple pleasures, relishing in activities such as cooking, reading, and gardening. She possessed a passion for culture and the arts, frequently attending plays and hosting delightful ethnic dinner nights with her adored grandchildren and great grandchildren. Among her many pursuits, Lorraine found great enjoyment in the camaraderie of bowling and the comfort of spending quality time with her cherished family and beloved pets. Lorraine's unwavering loyalty and dedication to her family were among her most cherished traits. She poured her love and care into every interaction, leaving a lasting impression of warmth and affection on all who crossed her path. Her laughter was infectious, and her penchant for spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought immeasurable joy to their lives. In her passing, Lorraine leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and simple pleasures. Though she may no longer be with us, her spirit will continue to reside in the hearts of all who knew her. Her memory will be cherished, her laughter remembered, and her love celebrated for generations to come. She enjoyed a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to those she held dear. May she rest in eternal peace, knowing that she was truly loved and will be deeply missed by us all. Valentino “Tino” Vincent Mones

Valentino “Tino” Vincent Mones passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the age of 75. Tino was the loving companion of Deborah Kline Perkins. He was the caring father of Shelly Mones Morales (Phil, Jr.). Proud grandfather of Madison and Maigen Morales; brother of Leon J. Mones (Paula); uncle/paran of Misty Lynn Mones (Adam Alphonso); stepfather to Jodie Greco (Lonnie) and Troy Chaisson (Julie); step grandfather to Jaslyn Nunez and Catherine Greco; step great-grandfather to Roman and Remy. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Albert and Myrtle Gonzales Mones. Valentino was a native of Delacroix Island and lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish. He was the owner of Tino Mones Seafood for 48 years and an active member of Dominique You Masonic Lodge #468 F&A.M. He will be missed by us all. Carolyn Ann Babin

Carolyn Ann Babin passed away at home on Friday, March 22, 2024, surrounded by her three daughters; at the age of 73. She is preceded in death by her parents, Morris Joseph Babin, Sr. and Hilda Marie Schellhaas Babin and by her brother, Morris (Jay) Babin, Jr. She is survived by her daughters, Melanie Cambas Favalora (Kenny), Amy Cambas Braud (Taylor) and Rebecca Cambas Pincu (Joshua) and further by her beloved grandchildren, Nathan, Drew and Madeline Favalora; Adelyn, Caroline and Olivia Braud; and Leah and Luke Pincu. She is further survived by her brothers, Richard Babin (Donna) and Dan Babin (Kevin Dart), her sisters, Hilda (Mike) Babin Feehan, Ann Babin Gagnard (Gary), Mary Beth Babin Poirrier (Eugene) and Mary Catherine Babin Jerolleman (Donald) and by her sister-in-law, Cheryl Babin. Carolyn was a graduate of Annunciation High School and the University of New Orleans and for many years was a dedicated teacher in St. Bernard Parish. Her grandchildren were her reason for life and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her. The family will be holding a private Celebration of Life.

Ella Grace Mericle Mitchell

Ella Grace Mericle Mitchell passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at the age of 84. Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Huey Paul Mitchell; two daughters, Lonnie Elizabeth Keyes and her husband, James, and Celeste Marie Palco; two grandchildren, Samantha Keyes and her wife, Jamie, and Joseph Palco; one great grandson, Indiana James Keyes; and one brother, Charles Mericle and his wife, Fran. Preceded in death by her parents, Irwin Leslie Mericle and Hazel Hunt Mericle; and one son, Brian Paul Mitchell. Ella Grace Mitchell, a native of Arabi, LA, and a longtime resident of Lafayette, peacefully passed away at her home in Carencro. She was a graduate of Chalmette High School and attended secretarial school in New Orleans. Ella embarked on her career journey as a secretary at Chrysler Corporation, where she met her beloved husband, Huey. Over the years, she shared her talents as a bookkeeper at Horace B. Rickey, Inc., also known as Oil Center Builders, and Lemoine Brothers Construction Co. in Lafayette. A devoted member of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Lafayette, Ella was actively involved with The Olive Branch group, reflecting her compassionate spirit and love for helping others. She found joy in various hobbies, including sewing, playing golf, listening to music from the 50's, and indulging in reading. Ella's affection for her feline companions earned her the endearing nickname of 'Crazy Cat Lady' among her family and friends. Ella and Huey enjoyed traveling together in their RV, visiting loved ones, and exploring new destinations. Whenever possible, Ella made sure to include a stop at a golf course during their travels, cherishing each moment spent with her husband. With her genuine soul and radiant smile, Ella brought warmth and joy to all who knew her, leaving behind cherished memories that will be treasured forever. Ronald J. 'Ronnie' Savell

Ronald J. 'Ronnie' Savell passed away on March 22, 2024, at the age of 77. He was born in Garyville, La., on January 27, 1947 to his loving parents, the late Ashley 'A.J.' Savell and Helen Savell. He moved to New Orleans, LA, along with his three sisters, the late Carol Nazar, Lorraine Lottinger, and the late Judy Kehoe, when he was six years old. Shortly after, they relocated to Arabi, La., where Ronnie attended school and played on the neighborhood football team. He graduated from Chalmette High School in 1964. Ronnie was drafted into the United States Army in 1966, where he served in the 1st Calvary Division in Vietnam. He met his wife of 52 years, Diane Myers Savell, in New Orleans, La., in 1970 and quickly felt smitten. They were married in January of 1972. Together, they had two children: a son, Coye Savell, US Army Ret., and a daughter, Shannon Monahan (Lucas Monahan, US Air Force Ret.). The Savell Family resided in Arabi, La., until 1988, at which time Ronnie moved his family to Slidell, La. Together, they created many memories that will forever be cherished. Ronnie was a skilled carpenter by trade and member of the Local Carpenters Union #1846. He was a parishioner of St. Margaret Mary Church. In his spare time, Ronnie loved to fish and spend time on the water but treasured nothing more than the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was proud to be present at the birth of his first granddaughter, Marley Monahan, and was thrilled to be the first to hold her, she has his strength. He was equally proud that his youngest granddaughter, Reagan Monahan, has his quick wit and fun-loving side. They both have his rhythm. Ronnie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Marlene Savarese Pappas

Marlene Savarese Pappas passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at the age of 90. She was the cherished wife of the late Michel Pappas Jr. Loving mother of Pamela Mouton (Pat), Lisa Perrodin (the late E.J.) and the late Michael Pappas (Laurie). Daughter of the late Ciro Anthony Savarese and Lenora Norton Savarese. Sister of Vincent Savarese, Mary Jane Hedrick and the late Cyril Savarese and Joseph Savarese. Proud grandmother of Michelle Robin, Stephanie Herbert (Angie) and Devin Perrodin. Great grandmother of Joseph Robin, Allie Herbert, Timothy Trimble, Shay Herbert, Taylor Rozar and the late Johnathan Trimble. Marlene met the love of her life, Mike at Francis T. Nicholls High School and was married for 53 years before his death in August 2006. Marlene and Mike were inseparable. They bowled in mixed couples’ leagues at night, while Marlene bowled several days a week with the ladies. Marlene and Mike had a passion for racehorses, where they spent weekends betting on the ponies. In 1971 they purchased their 1st racehorse in a yearling sale in Kentucky. Their horse, Primitive Weapon was the horse that started their passion. They eventually purchased property in Folsom, LA where they operated a breeding farm. Marlene later trained her own horses at Jefferson Downs and The Fair Grounds in New Orleans. Anyone who came down her shed row could expect a pot of fresh coffee and hot donuts. It was no wonder that her daughters - Pam would marry a racehorse trainer, while Lisa married a jockey. Marlene and Mike also loved gambling and the casinos, where you could always find Mike at the crap table and Marlene at her favorite slot machine. They enjoyed traveling and made frequent trips to Las Vegas. Marlene loved to fish & crab and plan family deep sea fishing trips. They owned a camp on Rats Nest Road in Slidell, where she would plan family reunions and the grandchildren and friends could boat and jet ski. Marlene never met a stranger! She had a kind and generous heart and was loved by all who knew her! May Marlene's spirit continue to guide us, and may her memory be a blessing unto us forevermore.

William Vance, Sr.

William Vance, Sr., was born on October 15, 1945, in New Orleans, La. He recently passed away on March 23, 2024 at Golden Age in Denham Springs at the age of 78. William worked for the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office and Express Courier. He also served in the Army National Guard. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Graveside Service held on Sunday, March 28 at 11 a.m. at Gateway Gardens Memorial Park, 29245 S, in Livingston, La. In honor of his memory, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Gary Joseph Estopinal

Gary Joseph Estopinal, born August 22, 1957, in New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on the evening of March 16, 2024, at the age of 66 after bravely battling esophageal cancer for just over a year. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Nolan and Sylvia Estopinal. Gary is survived by his children, Sherie E. Beasley (Jamie), Kevin Estopinal, and Erica E. Moreci (Jeff); his three granddaughters, Bree Beasley, Mia Moreci and Olivia Beasley, who were the light of his life; his sister Michelle Estopinal, brother Troy Estopinal (Melissa) and nieces Brittany Nicosia, Megan and Macey Estopinal. Gary lived a long and fulfilling life with a deep connection to the things he cherished most. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids, hanging out with friends, playing Texas Hold ‘Em and most of all fishing on the water. In his early career he was a welder out of the Local 60, helped establish Chalmette Amusement with his father, and helped operate his family's restaurant, Mutt's. After Katrina, he fulfilled his dream of fishing for a living by becoming Captain of Reel Time Charters. Gary will be fondly remembered for his gentle spirit, his unwavering kindness, and his infectious zest for life. Though he may be gone from our sight, his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us, reminding us that each moment is a chance to create lasting memories and to live life to the fullest, just as he did.
