Sherry Lynn Elsensohn Stewart, of Chalmette, La., passed away on July 24, 2024, at the age of 59. She was a native of New Orleans, La., born on October 21, 1964, to her loving parents, Rosemary Kirsch and Clifford J. Elsensohn. Her life was a testament to the power of love, family and the simple joys that create the tapestry of a life well-lived. Sherry's heart found its match in James Stephen Stewart, her beloved husband of 42 years. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, support, and enduring affection. Sherry was a devoted mother to Jessica Leigh Stewart, Kaitlin Angelina Stewart, and Hannah Morgan Stewart, who preceded her in death, as did her son, Matthew Stephen Stewart. Her legacy continues through her adoring grandchildren, Stephen Brian Lopez, Ethan James Stewart, and Liam Matthew Fontana, who will forever cherish the memories of their grandmother. A graduate of the Academy of Holy Angels, Sherry carried the values of her education throughout her life, exemplifying kindness and compassion in every action. Her siblings, Kurt Elsensohn and Tate Elsensohn, will remember her as the glue that held the family together, always ready with a comforting word or a helping hand. Sherry's passion for baking was well-known among her friends and family. Her kitchen was a place of gathering, where the aroma of fresh pastries and the warmth of her presence were equally inviting.
