Ricky Phillip Sylvera

Ricky Phillip Sylvera, of Slidell, La., passed away on September 25, 2024 at the age of 69. Born on July 24, 1955, in the vibrant city of New Orleans, La., Ricky is the beloved son of Adrian J. Sylvera and June Satter Sylvera. His life was a testament to the strength and warmth of the human spirit, and his legacy will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. Ricky's journey through life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 20 years, Julie Sylvera, and a loving father to his children, Penny Sylvera (Bryan), Chad Sylvera, and Malorie Dupont (Justin). Though he faced the heart-wrenching loss of his children, Chaz Mendoza and Madison Bergeron, Ricky's love for his family never wavered. His grandchildren, Hailey Mendoza, Charles Mendoza, Isabella Mendoza, Brielle Scrivano, and Dakota Dupont, brought immense joy to his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He was predeceased by his siblings, Jules, Lester and Sharon Sylvera. Ricky's early years were spent at St. Bernard High School, where he graduated before embarking on a successful career as a welder. His skilled hands and keen eye for detail made him a respected figure in his profession. Ricky's colleagues admired his work ethic and his commitment to excellence, which he maintained until his retirement. Ricky was a member of the American Welding Society and the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Posse. Ricky's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love and laughter. He was known for his quick wit, his generous heart, and his ability to make the best out of any situation. His presence could light up a room, and his stories will be retold for generations to come.
