Ms. Ora Dee James Smith departed this life on Sunday, March 16th, 2025, at her home in Terrytown, La. She was born in Walthall County Mississippi, to the late Odell James Sr and the late Willie Mae Gaines James. She accepted Christ at an early age. She attended school in Tylertown, Mississippi and then moved to New Orleans, La. Ms. Ora Dee 'Momma' or 'Grandma' as she affectionately called by those who loved her dearly was a strong willed lady and very outspoken. She enjoyed life to the fullest and she found an immense joy and satisfaction in gardening. If you knew her you know her heart was full once you brought her some soil or dirt. Just ask Fatman or a plant or two. She leaves to cherish her precious memories to her children Elnora Mahoney, Willie Dean (Leroy), Encalade and Robert 'Jasper' Smith, her girls whom she raised Atasha, Shenika, and Keisha Smith. Her sisters Rosie Magee, Gloria Simmon and Thannie Conerly, 21 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren. Her bestfriend Janell Joseph, a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends whom she loved dearly. Ora Dee was preceded in death by her father, Odell James Jr., sisters Sara and Dorothy Smith, her grandsons Ray Smith Jr., and Ryjhoun Smith. Relatives and friends of the family were invited to attend the celebration of life service on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Robinson Family Funeral Home.
