Manuel J. "Pete" Mackles, III

Manuel J. Mackles, III, also known as 'Pete;' passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2024 in Oshkosh, Wis., at the age of 82. He was born in St. Bernard Village, La., to the late Yvonne Guiterrez and Manuel Mackles, Sr. Pete is survived by his siblings: Rose Mary Hill, Jeanette Centanni, Peggy Ruiz, Dinah Evans and Clement Mackles. He is preceded in death by his brothers: Fernon (Sonny), McArthur (Mackie), Albert (Al), Richard (Dickie), Manuel Jr. and Louis Mackles; Sisters: Lorraine Wurtz, Yvonne Fraychineaud-Prestenbach and Vivian Torres. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, friends and countless people he helped during his life. 

Pete served his country in the U.S. Army, Oshkosh Police Department, New Orleans Police Department and St. Bernard Sheriff's Office and Schneider Trucking. He retired to his second home, in Oshkosh, after Hurricane Katrina. The family expresses their gratitude to Kathy Mc-Namer and friends in caring for Pete during his final days. The Services are currently pending. As per his final wishes, his remains will be interred in a family plot at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetry, in St. Bernard, La.
