Lionel Frederick Estopinal, age 94, passed away on July 9, 2026, after a long life marked by warmth, spirited conversation, and a genuine enjoyment of being with others. Born on February 6, 1932, Lionel was a resident of Chalmette, Louisiana. Those who knew Lionel will remember a man who simply liked people. He was someone who felt most at home in the company of family, friends, and familiar faces. His lively presence could brighten an ordinary day, and his fondness for gathering with others was a steady thread throughout his life. Lionel also took great pleasure in the traditions that made life feel full: cheering on the New Orleans Saints and following football, and savoring the comfort of Sunday lunches, especially when they included his favorite order of onion rings. Lionel is survived by his wife, Theresa Randazzo Estopinal; his son, Danny Estopinal (Rose); and his son-in-law, David Corne. He is also survived by his grandchildren, David Corne II (Kristina) and Christy Lee (Shaun); and his great-grandchildren, Hayden, Brayden, Emily, Morgan, and Hailey. Lionel was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Julie Estopinal, and his daughter, Darnell Estopinal Corne. Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA 70043, on Monday, July 20, 2026, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. A Funeral Service in Lionel's honor will 11:00 am. He will be laid to eternal rest at St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
