Joseph “Joey” Michael Ducote passed away on July 25, 2026, in Chalmette, Louisiana, at the age of 64. Born on April 1, 1962, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Joey lived a life marked by devotion to family, hard work, and a gift for bringing laughter to those around him. He was the beloved husband of Charlotte P. Ducote and a proud father to Blair McIntyre (Garrett) and Dylan Ducote (Celeste). He also cherished his stepchildren, Matthew Murla, Meagan Murla, and Macy Nation (Korey), and he found great joy in the large and loving family that surrounded him. Joey was a devoted grandfather to Griffen and Greyson Ducote, Rogan, Rylee, and Tatum McIntyre, Madison, Bayleigh, Jordyn, and Royce Hammer, Miley and Kori Nation, and Matthew Murla. He is also survived by his brother, Michael “Mickey” Ducote (Gail), his stepsiblings William Eden Wood, Jr. and Richard Bernard Wood and a host of extended family members, friends, and loved ones who will forever hold his memory close. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dolores Pontiff Ducote Wood, his father, Joseph Ducote, his stepfather, William Eden Wood, his sister, Gail Dusang, and his stepsister, CarolAnn Satterthwaite. Joey devoted many years of service to Entergy, where he worked as a project supervisor. He took great pride in his work and looked forward to retirement, earning the respect of those who worked alongside him through his dedication, reliability, and strong work ethic. His commitment to doing things the right way reflected the same steady character he brought to every part of his life. Outside of work, Joey enjoyed making memories with family and friends while hunting, fishing, camping, golfing, and playing tennis. He had a quick wit and a wonderfully unpredictable way of speaking that kept everyone laughing. No one ever knew exactly what he would say next, and that was part of his charm. His unique sense of humor and joyful spirit made every gathering memorable, and his presence brought warmth and light to those fortunate enough to know him. Joey will be remembered as a funny man with a big heart, a loyal family man, and someone who made ordinary moments feel special. His laughter, his stories, and his unmistakable personality left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives he touched.Friends and family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Friday, August 7, 2026, beginning at 1:00 PM at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until Mass time. Private burial will follow. A Celebration of Life will be held afterwards at Abby Rose Venue, 2900 Oak Ridge Blvd, Violet, LA 70092, beginning at 2:30 PM.
