Ione 'Dolly' M. Francioni

Ione (Dolly) Francioni passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at the age of 95 to join her beloved brothers and sisters as the baby sibling. Beloved daughter of the late Lawrence Francioni and Irene Serpas Francioni. Loving sister of the late Geraldine Broders (Gus), Lawrence Francioni Jr. (Margie), Inez (Phoebe) Francioni, Irene Price (William), Lily Dauterive (Dr. Ralph), Anna Mae Halverson (Eric), Robert Francioni, Lloyd Francioni (Iris), and Benite Francioni. She is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Born in Thibodaux, Ione (Dolly) later became a resident of St. Bernard Parish before finding her final home in Slidell, LA. Dolly always called St. Bernard her home. Her life was marked by dedication to her family, her community and her career with the federal government where she worked until retirement. Dolly was a dedicated parishioner at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Slidell. While in St. Bernard, she worked tirelessly in the plant booth at the St. Louis de Marillac Fair, contributing to the community. Dolly loved her family and all her pets dearly. She adored her cats, especially Mogan David and her dogs, Michelle, Ginger and Sandy, just to name a few. She enjoyed ordering and receiving mail order items, no matter what it was! On any Friday night at the family home, you could find Dolly, her brothers and sisters and whoever else showed up, eating, drinking and playing a friendly game of cards. She loved and enjoyed watching and attending sporting events, especially those her nieces and nephews played. She was a die-hard fan of Tulane Green Wave. As the last sibling of a wonderful family, her passing is the culmination of a lifetime of great loving memories which will be dearly missed by all family and friends. In loving memory of Dolly, may she rest in peace. Special thanks to the most loving and caring staff at Park Provence Summer House and Foundations Hospice in Slidell. Our heartfelt appreciation and love to Ellen Dupriest, who was like a daughter to Dolly and Geraldine, for many years of loving care and friendship. Relatives and friends were invited to attend a visitation to be held at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2805 St. Bernard Hwy, St. Bernard, LA 70085 on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, from 9:00AM-11:AM, followed by a Funeral Mass that began at 11:00AM. She was laid to rest in the St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery.
