Gerald “Jerry” A. Clade passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at the age of 88. He was the beloved and devoted companion of the late Sarah Sannino for over 50 years. Son of the late Ollie Wilbur Clade and Joseph Clade Sr. Brother of the late Mildred Jeanfreau, Violet Wadleigh, Joseph Clade Jr., Robert Clade and Fay Cook. He is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Born in New Orleans, Jerry proudly served his country in the U.S. Army before embarking on a dedicated career with the New Orleans Sewage and Water Board, where he eventually retired after many years of loyal service. He had a passion for building birdhouses and found great joy in caring for the birds that visited him. He cherished his time spent with family, especially his nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Jerry will be remembered fondly for his kindness, his love of nature, and his devotion to his loved ones. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth and generosity that will be deeply missed by all who knew him. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to all the loving caregivers who provided compassionate care to Jerry in his later years: Sharon, Tasha, Jazzan, Tinice, Sheila and Jewel. Relatives and friends attended a Visitation followed by a Funeral Mass in Jerry’s memory held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, La., on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 He was laid to eternal rest with his beloved Sarah in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
