With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Eleanor Dubroc Galland, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who departed this world on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at the age of 83. She is survived by her son, Ricky Mark Galland (Cheryl); her grandchildren, Cherie Galland and Ricky J. Galland; her great grandchildren, Justin Catchot and Dylan Catchot; her siblings, Gloria Desselle, Dottie Lozano and Tyronne Dubroc. Eleanor is preceded in death by her husband, Dudley Mark Galland; her son, Nicky Mark Galland (the late Rhonda); her parents, Sylvan Dubroc and Anolia LaBorde; her siblings, Sylvia Bordelon, Diane Gagnard, Numan Dubroc, Vincent Dubroc and Dudley Dubroc. A lifelong resident of Chalmette, La., for 61 years, and, more recently, a resident of Slidell, La., for the past three years, where she devoted her life to her family and community.
She spent many years working for the St. Bernard Parish School Board as a cook, where her kindness, work ethic and warm spirit touched the lives of many students and colleagues. Her greatest joy in life was her family, which she found true happiness in nurturing and caring for her loved ones. Whether it was spending time with her children, grandchildren or great-grandchildren, her love for them knew no bounds. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Special thanks to St. Joseph Hospice for their most wonderful care of Eleanor while in their care. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity in her honor. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by a Funeral in Eleanor’s memory starting at 1 p.m. to be held on Friday, October 18, 2024 at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W.
