Carol Fortier Shahine passed away peacefully on Monday, August 19, 2024 at the age of 83. She was the cherished wife of the late Samuel L. Shahine Sr. Loving mother of Robert Shahine (Mary Jayne) and the late Samuel Shahine (Christy). Daughter of the late Lawrence Fortier and Louisa Villemarette Fortier. Proud grandmother of Robert Shahine, Jr. (Jennifer), David Shahine (Bonnie), Jaymie Bonomo, Aimee Casiano (Randy), Samuel Shahine III, Devin Shahine (Alyssa) and the late Casey Shahine. Great grandmother of Faithlyn, Carolyn, Ellyn, Jaxson, Casey, Camryn, Aubrey, Ryker and Brayven. She is also survived and fondly remembered by many neighbors and dear friends. Carol was born in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish where she cherished her role as a devoted wife to Samuel and a loving mother to her two boys. Throughout her life, Carol found joy in the simple pleasures, including her passion for knitting and crocheting. Her quiet demeanor was accompanied by a generous heart and a deep-seated love for her family, especially her grandchildren. Her greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren, who were the center of her world. In her later years, Carol extended her kindness to others by working at the St. Bernard Council on Aging, where her compassion and selflessness were evident to all who knew her. Her good nature and generous spirit left a lasting impact on everyone she encountered. Carol will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love will be fondly remembered. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Friday, August 23, 2024 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a Funeral Service in Carol's memory beginning at 1 p.m. Interment: St. Bernard Memorial Gardens, Chalmette, La.
