Jaime "Jimmy" Mas Laureiro Sr.

Jaime 'Jimmy' Mas Laureiro Sr., of Chalmette Louisiana, passed away on February 19, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on July 17, 1948, in Havana, Cuba, to the late Aida and Frank Oniate, Jimmy's life was a testament to the power of faith, the love of family, and service to his country. Jimmy is the beloved husband of 58 memory- filled years to Trudy Laureiro; adored father of Jaime 'Manny' Laureiro Jr. (Dana); proud grandfather of Courtney Laureiro Palmeri (Thomas) and Peyton Laureiro; great-grandfather of Lucy Palmeri; and adored brother of Frank Oniate, Aida Flores (Ronnie), Tony Oniate, Hilda Oniate; and Ramone Oniate. His extended family, including his cousins, Paul Ladut (Pat), Orlando Ladut (Patsy), Gee Ladut (Kelly), Patricia Ladut, and Justin Ladut (Jenna); brother- in-law, John Golman (Susan); sisterin- law, Gail Franchina (Vincent), as well as his nieces, Jessica Golman (Craig), Melissa Franchina, Melana Lammons (Gary), and Nicole Gagliano (Brett); nephew, Cody Golman; great-nieces, Raegan and Sloane Ponamsky, Melana Beaulieu (Brandon), and Liliana Golman; and great-nephews, Daniel Lammons (Chrishelle) and Wilder Pants, all held a special place in his heart. After bravely serving in the United States Army, Jimmy's professional life was marked by his dedication as a mechanic supervisor for Acadian Ambulance until retirement. His commitment to excellence and his ability to lead earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues. An avid fisherman, Jimmy found solace and joy in the tranquility of nature. His love for fishing was more than a hobby; it was a way for him to connect with the world and share his passion with his family and friends. Jimmy's memory will be honored and kept alive through the stories we share and the lives he touched. He will be greatly missed, but Jimmy's legacy will continue to inspire all those who knew and loved him. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Audubon Funeral Home in Slidell. A funeral service with military honors will begin in the chapel at noon. Jimmy will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery of New Orleans following services.
