It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Oscar Gervais Ill, who left us on January 26, 2025, at the age of 36. James was born on April 8, 1988, and was a beloved son, brother, nephew, and a great friend. He will be remembered for his kindness, sense of humor, and the love he shared with everyone he met. James was a person who brought light into the lives of those around him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends. A longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish, James was deeply connected to his community and the people in it. James is survived by his mother, Rita Mayer Tucker (Jack); his father, James O. Gervais Jr. (Margaret); his brother, Eric K. Gervais (Ashli); his godchild, Vivica Gervais; and his nephew, Eric K. Gervais Jr. He is also survived by his sister, Tiffany G. Sietzen (Michael); his nieces, Cierra, Heaven, Anastasia, Brooklyn, and Harper; his nephew, Michael Ill; his stepbrothers, Jack Tucker Il and Garrett Tucker; his great aunt, Peggy R. Barcelona (the late Chris); his cousins, Chris A. Barcelona Jr. (Brittany) and Christie Lee Lovell (Bobby); his late aunt, Nancy R. Bourgeois (the late V.J.), and cousin, Michael Bourgeois; his grandfather, Joachim Louis Mayer Sr. (Joan); his uncles, Joey and Jason; his aunt, Jamie; and many other beloved nieces, nephews, family members, and friends who cherished him. James was also deeply loved by his godfather, Niels (Chris) Sand Ill (Miko), and his late godmother, Kim Gervais DeoGracias (Daniel), whose love and guidance meant so much to him. Like a brother, his best friend Trey held a special place in his heart. He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Sharon Ruiz Braud (Jerry) and Cheryl Bowman DeSilva (Lloyd), as well as his grandfather, James O. Gervais Sr. Their memory and love will always remain in the hearts of those who knew them. A celebration of his life will take place at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church on April 8, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. for visitation. A Mass will follow at 12 p.m.
