James M. “Jimmy” Murray passed away peacefully at the age of 87, Saturday morning, March 15, 2025. Survived by his children, Gene Kolber (Jackie), Dawn Treuting (Rob), Jimmy Dean Murray, the late David Murray, and Dennis Murray (Maria); and stepchildren Yvette (Ron), Adolph (Champ), Reisie (Danny) and Gary (the late Sheila). Many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Brother of JoAnn Stieffel (Bill) and Mary (Deanna) Parsons, and the late Robert Gay, Junior, Johnny, Michael Murray, and Margarite “Rita” Murray Giarratano. He was preceded in death by his wife Yvonne Murray, and mother and father Mabel Inez Ramsey and Hebert Powell Murray Sr. Jimmy was a jack of all trades. He said “he wanted his ashes in a nail bucket and placed in his shed”. He had an outgoing personality and never met a stranger. He loved reading his newspaper every morning with a cup of coffee. He was a great story teller, a member of AARP, and served in the National Guard. A native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of St. Bernard Parish. He was among many residents who worked to rebuild St. Bernard Parish after Hurricane Katrina. He loved and was loved by the University of Marquette Volunteers, and Operation Southern Comfort Group from New York who came to St. Bernard Parish after Hurricane Katrina to help rebuild homes. Services were private.
