Rodney J. Beaugez Sr.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rodney J. Beaugez Sr., who left us on January 16, 2025, at the age of 79. A beloved father, grandfather, and friend, he was a man who touched the lives of all who knew him. Rodney is survived by his children, Rodney J. Beaugez Jr. (Shawn) and Lorraine B. Calabresi (Tony); his grandchildren, Colin Calabresi and Cambre Calabresi (Matthew); his siblings, Donald Beaugez (Alana), Andrew Beaugez (the late Debbie) and Gerald Beaugez (Charlotte) and Patricia Zuperku (Leo); his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Mary Albarez Beaugez, with whom he shared a life filled with love and cherished memories; his parents, Joseph R. and Eliska G. Beaugez; his sisters, Annette Finnegan (the late Jr.) and Sylvia F. Brown (the late Donald). As a dedicated cabinet maker, Rodney spent many years honing his craft, creating beautiful pieces that will live on as a testament to his skill and artistry. After retiring, he enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, particularly the time he spent with his grandchildren. Known as Paw-Paw to all, he loved nothing more than fishing and crabbing with them, creating lasting memories on the water. He was also deeply fond of his nieces and nephews, and their bonds were a source of immense joy and pride for him. Rodney was a kind soul with a heart full of love and generosity. He had an innate ability to make everyone feel special and cared for, and his quick wit and playful sarcasm brought laughter to those around him. Whether spending time with family, sharing stories with friends, or offering a helping hand to anyone in need, he made everyone feel at home. His spirit of kindness, humor, and unwavering love will continue to live on in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and all who were lucky enough to know him. He was a friend to all and will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, laughter, and generosity will remain forever in our hearts. A celebration of Rodney’s life will be held on January 25, 2025, at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m., with a funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. He will be laid to eternal rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
