Calvin Joseph Nunez

Calvin Joseph Nunez, of Pearl River, La., passed away on July 17, 2024, at the age of 86. He was native of St. Bernard, La., born on October 20, 1937, to the late Ferdinand Nunez and Claire Smith Nunez. Calvin was the beloved husband of the late Emma Gene Nunez; cherished father of his children from a previous marriage, Kevin Nunez and the late Kelly Nunez Breaux (Ronald) and Kristin Nunez Bordelon; adored grandfather of Emily Marie Breaux, Lana Breaux Rayes (Ian), Chelsie Kristin Nunez, and Fate Nunez; proud great-grandfather of two; and loving brother of Ervin Nunez (Barbara), Phyllis Diecidue (Teddy), and the late Errol Nunez (Jean) and Ronald Nunez (Lucille). Additionally, he is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and friends, all of whom he greatly loved. Calvin bravely served in the United States Navy, stationed in Okinawa, Japan. During his time in the military, Calvin was a member of the U.S. Navy baseball team. 

He was employed with Kaiser Aluminum and Bean Dredging. When not spending time with his fur-baby, Mumphrey, Calvin could often be found enjoying the outdoors, golfing, and walking. He was an avid sports fan and his weekends were often spent cheering on the New Orleans Saints, the New Orleans Pelicans, or LSU Tigers. Calvin will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Relatives and friends attended a Memorial Service held on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at First Pentecostal Church of Chalmette, 2015 Palmisano Blvd., in Chalmette, La.
