Daniel (Dan/Danny) Anthony Nitsch Sr, 57, went to be with Jesus peacefully on Friday, August 7, 2026 with his beloved family by his side. He passed away after a 14-month battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). He was born July 15, 1969 in New Orleans, Louisiana, the only child to George Nitsch (Union City, NJ) and Ophelia (Judy) Judith Wright Nitsch (Pell City, AL), both preceding him in death. He was married to the love of his life, Julie Goodwin Nitsch for 31 years. He leaves behind Julie and their two beloved children, Darla Angelica Nitsch and Daniel Anthony Nitsch, II. He also leaves behind his Aunts: Sara Early and Deena Gill and Uncle, Gary Phillips, (all in Alabama); as well as countless family, friends and brothers and sisters in Christ. He attended St. Bernard High, as well as received his GED at 16 y/o. He also earned an associate degree from Nunez Community College (formerly St. Bernard Community College) as well as his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Phoenix. His hobbies were Texas Hold’em Poker and time spent with his family and friends. He is a former employee of St. Bernard Hospital, the ARC, his favorite –Touro Infirmary (1993 to 2005), Shaw/CBI, and Leading Solutions. A former youth pastor of the Assembly of God Tabernacle and then Adullam Christian Fellowship, he was also involved in Christian missions both state-side and abroad. He is a longtime resident of Chalmette, LA and formerly from Violet, LA. He was loved dearly by both family and friends and will be abundantly missed. Please feel free to dress comfortably, as we intend to celebrate his life, rather than mourn his death. Danny was an avid fan of the New Orleans Saints and the LSU Tigers, so feel free to come representing. A celebration of life/memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 29 at his church, The Tabernacle Church, 4302 E. Judge Perez Dr., Meraux, LA 70075.
