St. Bernard Port and Associated Terminals' Maritime Month Event

Body
The St. Bernard Port and Associated Terminal’s Maritime Month Event was a successful collaboration with a great turn out. The theme was Past, Present, and Future, with the goal being to show how the port has been St. Bernard Parish’s historical partner. There were two tours, one from 10 am to 1 pm and the other starting at 1 and ending at 3. During the tours, each group was shown a thorough but brief Prezi presentation that gave more insight into the St. Bernard Port and Associated Terminals.

CALLING IT HOME

Body
School is out and kids will be playing more at home and all day long. So, what does that mean? Driving carefully and slowing down in the neighborhoods is the thought for the summer. Yes, make Sheriff Pohlmann happy and let’s have a really safe summer. Water activities will be ramping up as well. Be sure to have the correct safety gear on the boat and wear your life vests while on the boat. Unfortunately, accidents on the water can easily be deadly. What could be more fun than a family fishing or crabbing trip and a good meal with the catch? We all need to help keep the summer safe and enjoyable. Hurricane season is here and be prepared now. When a storm is approaching it is almost too late to plan, start early. If you travel out of town for vacation, be sure to have a plan for someone to check on your home. A relative, a neighbor, or checking with the Sheriff’s Office for a home patrol can be a really good idea for checking on your home.

PEACE & JUSTICE

Body
We are used to hearing legislators in Washington call each other liars. Just a few months ago during the President’s State of the Union speech, Congressman Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia jabbed a thumbs down in the president’s direction and yelled “liar” after his comments. “Joe Biden is lying to the American People,” Greene tweeted during the speech.
