Kiwanis to Hold 5K Race and Family Field Day

The Kiwanis Club of St. Bernard-Arabi will hold its annual Run Da Parish 5K race on Saturday June 10 and for the first time the event will feature a Family Field Day with games and activities for the whole family.

CALLING IT HOME

As a general rule, I begin writing my column on Sunday morning. I have a process that begins with deciding the subject matter as it happens or comes to mind. My phone is turned off, I only organize my emails, and save reading them and The Advocate until later so I can stay focused. By Sunday, most of what has occurred in the week will be completed by the evening. I try to find something that brings attention to activities in our community or topics that may be relevant to the Parish. Sadly, I must address a topic none of us like, violent crime and murder.

Former three term Attorney General Richard Ieyoub passed away last week at the age of 78. He was currently serving as Louisiana’s commissioner of conservation, overseeing the regulation of all oil and gas activities in the state.
