St. Bernard Bird Festival 2024

Body
Several hundred school children and adults attended the St. Bernard Bird Festival this past week. They saw many migratory birds captured during the festival and banded by experts from Audubon Delta. One of the birds caught and banded are depicted here. In addition to the banding of birds, visitors were offered guided birding tours, native plant walking tours, advice from birding experts, including a Purple Martin expert. There were also displays by local artists—woodcarvers and painters-- depicting birds. Many of the visitors were from outside St. Bernard Parish and returned home with images of the beautiful birds and a heightened appreciation of nature in St. Bernard Parish.
