CALLING IT HOME

Body
I hard a difficult time sleeping last night. I had a shift change of work from nights to regular daytime. A quick shower and getting dressed to go downstairs to have breakfast with my kids before they go to school. It has been almost a year since my schedule would be at normal daytime hours for work. My children enjoyed telling me how much they looked forward to going to class and what exciting things they were going to do at school. I always pray they will do well and get a good education. A hurried kiss was the goodbye for my kids. The school bus is arriving soon and off to school for another day. My wife and I cleaned up the kitchen as we do on our mornings together. A smile of joy we share each morning was blessed with a kiss from my wife,a goodbye.

POINT OF VIEW

Body
Most of St. Bernard is seriously concerned about the impact of the Louisiana International Terminal (LIT) on the Quality of life in our parish. Issues concerning traffic congestions, railroad blockages, roadway damage, pollution, impact on culture, diminishing property values, railroad and traffic accidents, river accidents, etc. are all a matter of record. There is no doubt in the minds of locals that St. Bernard will not see any advantage in this project. Our parish is being sacrificed.

PEACE & JUSTICE

Let me tell you about a great American war hero. His name is Hugh Thompson and he comes from Lafayette, Louisiana. When you make a list of Louisiana’s best, special and brightest, Hugh Thompson will certainly be in that number. It all goes back to Viet Nam some five decades ago.
