Members of NARFE Vernon N. Landry Chapter 1398 came together on July 9, 2025, to celebrate their 14th Anniversary since re-forming after Hurricane Katrina. It was a wonderful day spent enjoying camaraderie and some delicious eats at Rocky and Carlo’s Restaurant, followed by cupcakes and ice cream for dessert. The chapter also took the opportunity to give back to the local Family Violence Program with donations of bottles of shampoo and conditioner.

St. Bernard Autism Awareness Krewe Donates Sensory Bags

The St. Bernard Autism Awareness Krewe recently presented sensory bags to the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office and the St. Bernard Parish Fire Department to assist first responders when encountering individuals with autism or other sensory sensitivities during emergency situations.

St. Bernard Business and Professional Women's Club Hosting Bell Ringing Ceremony July 4

St. Bernard Business and Professional Women’s Club will hold it’s annual Bell Ringing Ceremony on July 4th at the Liberty Bell located on the Parish Government grounds in Chalmette, LA beginning at 4:45 PM prior to the St. Bernard Salutes America celebration. The bell was a gift to the people of St.
Stephen Hernandez, the son of Melissa Bruno and Stephen Hernandez Sr., is a member of The Exceptional Athletes of St Bernard. Stephen recently participated at the State Special Olympics track meet in Hammond where he won 1st place in the 100 yd dash. This accomplishment has qualified him to compete in the National Special Olympics Track Meet in Minnesota in June of 2026, where he will be proudly representing Exceptional Athletes and St. Bernard Parish.

SBSO Junior Deputy Academy Receives Donation

The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office recently received a $100 donation from the Vietnam Veterans of America St. Bernard Chapter 550 to benefit the Junior Deputy Academy program.Formed in 2015, the Junior Deputy Academy is open to St. Bernard Parish children ages 10 to 12.
