South Louisiana has many invasive species, and it seems like a constant battle to keep them in check. Giant salvinia ( Salvinia molesta) is a floating fern, native to Brazil, that rapidly spreads to cover waterways in tropical and subtropical areas.

It is April and spring is here. Where are the April showers that bring May flowers? It is that time for all of us to be busy as a bee with spring. The weekend began Friday night with an album release party for Audrey LeCrone from Arabi at DBA on Frenchmen St.

St. Bernard Parish Hosts Community Recognition Celebration

The St. Bernard Parish School Board recently hosted its annual Celebrating Our School Community Banquet, an event honoring outstanding achievement and commitment in public education. More than 400 people attended the celebration held at Chalmette High School.

Families are invited to enjoy 'Telling Tales at the Library' at the St. Bernard Parish Library this winter and spring. Story time sessions will be held Wednesdays from January 21 through May 6 at 11 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. at the library’s main branch, 3121 E. Judge Perez Dr. in Meraux.
