Gloria Bourgeois Duvieilh

Gloria Bourgeois Duvieilh, of Slidell, La., passed away peacefully on September 20, 2024 at the age of 91. She was born in the vibrant city of New Orleans, La., on February 3, 1933, to the late Julia Guillot Bourgeois and Lawrence Paul Bourgeois Sr. Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Camile Lawrence “Johnny” Duvieilh Jr., whom she shared 60 years of marriage; her oldest son, Richard L. Duvieilh (survived by Karen); and two brothers, Lawrence Bourgeois Jr. and Adolph Bourgeois. As a homemaker, Gloria poured her heart into creating a warm and welcoming home where laughter was abundant and everyone felt loved. She leaves behind, to cherish her memory, five children: Debra D. Lee, Judy D. Gomila, Warren J. Duvieilh (Terry), Terry J. Duvieilh (Candace), and Mary D. Jeanfreau (Frederick). Each of her children carried a piece of her nurturing spirit and strength into their own lives. Gloria's legacy continued to flourish through her adoring grandchildren: Jesse Lee (Sheila), Jennifer Lee, Kevin Duvieilh (Diana), Brad Duvieilh (Jaclyn), Ashley Hoffpauir (Carl), Thomas Duvieilh (Candice), Nicholas Duvieilh (Emily), Devin Jeanfreau (Hannah), and Casey Byers (Ryan). She was a source of wisdom and comfort to her grandkids, always there to celebrate their successes and support them through life's challenges. The joy of Gloria's life multiplied with the arrival of her great-grandchildren: Jace, Bryce, Ella, Lily, Luke, Drew, Alex, Addisyn, Carl Warren, Keeva, Montana, Magnolia, Lucas, and Bryer, with two more blessings on the way. She cherished every moment spent with them, instilling in them the values of kindness and compassion that she held so dear. Gloria's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and unwavering dedication. She was the heart of her family, a role she embraced with grace and joy. Her surviving siblings, Irving Bourgeois (Kay), Joyce Wood (late Robert), Laigj Bourgeois (Mary), and Gerald Bourgeois (Judy), shared with her a bond that was both tender and enduring. Gloria, a devout Catholic, was the embodiment of faith, dedication and love. Her gentle spirit and unwavering support were the cornerstones upon which her family built their lives. She was a woman of quiet strength, whose influence will be felt for generations to come. Gloria will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Funeral Mass starting at 1 p.m. on Monday, September 30, 2024 at Audubon Funeral Home, in Slidell.
