Esther Leona Billings Favalora peacefully entered into eternal rest on Tuesday August 11, 2026 at age 99. Loving wife of the late Alfred Long Favalora, Sr. for 71 wonderful years. She was the loving mother of Alfred Long Favalora, Jr. (Sharon), Deborah F. McCrossen (Bill), Peggy F. Ricard (Steve) and the late Paula F. Spencer (Hubert). She was born the daughter of Florence Schloegel Billings and Lloyd Billings on June 7, 1927. Sister of Thelma B. Reeb (Harry, Sr.) and Lloyd Billings Jr. (Anne). She is also survived and fondly remembered by her 11 Grandchildren, 23 Great Grandchildren, 8 Great Great Grandchildren, along with many relatives, cousins and dear friends. Esther was born in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish before settling in Slidell, LA for the past 21 years. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life - playing cards, bingo, and games with her friends and family, but most of all, in loving, laughing, sharing hugs, and talking with the people she cherished. She loved visiting with others and could always find something to talk about. Her conversations, laughter, and genuine interest in people made everyone around her feel welcomed and loved. She worked for many years in accounting for the Schneider Paper Company and was an active member of AARP and the Council on Aging, where she enjoyed every activity with a full, happy heart. She will always be remembered for her loving and caring spirit, her laughter, her devotion to family, and the special joy she found in spoiling her grandchildren. She was our pillar of strength and a wonderful example of what it means to truly care for others. Rest in peace, mom. You will be so deeply missed, but your love, laughter, conversations, and beautiful memories will remain in our hearts forever. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, August 22nd from 11:00AM – 1:00PM, followed by a Funeral Mass beginning at 1:00PM. She will be laid to eternal rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
