Keira Jeanine Johnson, passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at the age of five months. Keira was born on June 23, 2020 to Eric Johnson & Ariel Hardeman in New Orleans, LA. Besides her parents, Keira is survived by her maternal grandparents Keith Hardeman (Dawn Blume) & Crystal Melerine; paternal grandparents Dana Riley (Stacy) and Eric Johnson (Dana); maternal great-grandparent Sheila Melerine (Liz). Maternal aunts and uncles, Dillian Melerine, Amanda Jarvis, Kyra Camardelle, Calveyion Montgomery, Justin Blume and Troy Jarvis Jr; paternal aunts & uncles, Alayanae Riley, Erianne Johnson (Jeremy) Shelby Riley (Briair), Kenrie Narcisse, Stacy Riley, Seth Riley and Keivan Wilson. Keira was preceded in death by one great-grandparent, Alice Dolese. Robert Lee Henderson, Jr., passed away peacefully at home, in his sleep on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at the age of 89. Robert was born on August 23, 1931 to the late Ollie Elizabeth Lyons Henderson & Robert Lee Henderson, Sr. Robert was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 32 years, Joyce Steinkamp Henderson, brothers William Jacobs, Richard Jacobs & Stepfather William Jacobs. Robert is survived by three daughters, Patricia Henderson Thriffiley (Alan Sr.), Cynthia Henderson Donnelly (Ronnie) and Debra Henderson MacLean; nine Grandchildren, Alan Thriffiley Jr. (Brandy), Tricia Thriffiley Phillpott (Wayne), Cherie’ Kay Thriffiley LaRocca (Joey), Dana Donnelly Dusang, Robin Donnelly Morvant (Scott), Joy Donnelly McWilliams (Chance), Jennifer MacLean Russell (Jimmy), Jill MacLean Milliet (Ronnie) and Jeffery MacLean Jr. (Heidi); 19 great-grandchildren; Dominic, Catherine & Lilly Thriffiley, Juliana & Jack Henry Phillpott, Luke & Jude LaRocca, Damon & Marissa Donnelly, Hailey & Gavin Morvant, Mason & Ava McWilliams, James & Julia Russell, Gracie & Mallory Milliet and Emma & Aven MacLean. Robert also leaves behind his Companion, Bobette Bensel & Family. Mr. Henderson served in the Army during the Korean War as a Corporal. He devoted 34 years to his job at the American Can Company. Bob centered his life around his family. Bob enjoyed traveling, playing golf, cards & daily newspaper puzzles. Shawn Michael Rogers, beloved husband and father; entered the eternal arms of Jesus and Mary in Paradise on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at the age of 62. He was the loving husband of Cynthia Artus Rogers, and the devoted father of two daughters; Shawntel Carolyn Rogers (Thomas) and Brandy Jean Rogers. Shawn was preceded in death by his parents, the late James O. Rogers and the late Carolyn Wallace Rogers, and by his two brothers, the late Gerard Anthony Rogers (Terri) and the late Stephen P. Rogers. His surviving siblings include James Brent Rogers (Patricia), Katherine Rogers Sharp (Rob), Robert B. Rogers, and Elise Rogers Schmoorkoff (John), and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He also leaves behind his loving companion dogs Toby, Snickers, and his pet rabbit, Summer. Shawn attended Chalmette High School, then joined the United States Navy. He then returned home, worked in Security, and eventually earned a diploma in Carpentry and A/C Refrigeration, where he worked until his illness prevented him from working. Shawn was an all-around happy-go-lucky guy; always joking. He had an avid love for music, particularly the Beatles and Buddy Holly, and he had an extensive record collection. He was also a diehard Saints and Tulane green wave fan (he was the #1 Bestest Saints Fan ever). On a more serious note, Shawn had an unending love and devotion for our Lord Jesus and Mary. He was a CCD teacher and a church usher for OLPS for several years. He often made sacrifices; especially pain and suffering, offering it up for the Holy Souls of Purgatory. Any time a favor was asked of him, he promptly did it. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. “Remember me with smiles and laughter; for that’s the way I’ll remember you all. If you can only remember me with tears, then don’t remember me at all.” Relatives, friends, and employees of heart of hospice attended a gathering and memorial mass held in his memory at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, on Saturday, December 5, 2020. In lieu of flowers, masses preferred or donations to the American Heart Association.
Ruth M. Gebbia, a proud resident of St. Bernard Parish who was displaced by Katrina and currently of Maryland; died peacefully with family at her side on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at the age of 94. She was the daughter of the late Antonio M. Martinez, Sr. and Mary F. Denley. Ruth enjoyed 54 years of a loving marriage to her late husband, Charles J. Gebbia. Ruth is beloved by their three children Diane Boyea, David Gebbia, and Debra Armond, daughter-in-law Lucy Gebbia, son-in-law Guy Armond, and late son-in-law Ron Boyea. Ruth dearly loved her six grandchildren Holli Hayman (Jason), Brad Armond (Alex), Kelsey Longhenry (Dustin), Lindsay Clark (Jon), Mary Gebbia, and Ross Armond (Grace) and her three great-grandchildren, Chase and Addison Hayman, and Caden Clark. Ruth will be remembered as a kind and loving soul, who was the quintessential homemaker. Ruth was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Church and was a member of the Altar Ladies for over 30 years. Ruth was also a member of the St. Bernard Homemakers Club. Ruth enjoyed sewing, making many outfits for her grandchildren, crafting, decorating cakes, gardening and watching her daily soap operas. She also greatly enjoyed attending classes and making friends at her local senior centers in both New Jersey and Maryland. Ruth will be sadly missed by her family and friends alike. The visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday December 12, 2020, begin at 12 p.m. Noon until 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church, 2320 Paris Rd., Chalmette, LA, followed by a Catholic Funeral Mass. Edna May Drees Fos entered eternal rest on Saturday, December 5, 2020, at the age of 93. She was the beloved wife of the late John B Fos, Jr. Preceded in death by her Mother and Father, Clotilde and Robert Drees, sister Hazel Doussa, brother Robert Drees, and grandchild Clint Fos. Loving mother of Roger (Janine), John III (Susanne), and Karen Jackson (James). Also survived by a brother (Joseph Drees), six grandchildren (Kelly, Dana, Tina, Chad, Melissa, Ross), eight great-grandchildren (Nicholas, Greyson, Alexandra, Gabrielle, Gyllian, Kayla, Hailey, Jase), and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Edna will be fondly remembered and missed by all who knew her. She loved spending time with and cooking Sunday dinners for her family, playing bingo, and listening to music with her Ashton Manor friends. She was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish and a current resident of St. Charles Parish.
