Michael Richard Easley, of Bush, Louisiana, passed away on February 17, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on August 18, 1954, in Hammond, Louisiana, Michael's life was a testament to the enduring strength of love and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgile and Minnie Easley; his daughter, Katherine Baragona; his nephew, Chad Smith; and his brother-in-law, Frank Castigliola. Michael was happily married to his beloved wife, Gloria Easley, for 42 years; together they shared many cherished memories. Michael was a devoted father to Billie Chauppetta (Alexander Sr.), Tammy Baragona (Bradley Mayfield), and Lisa Baragona. He was a guiding light in their lives and instilled in them the values of kindness and compassion. Michael's legacy continues to flourish through his grandchildren, Chantel (Michael), Alexander Jr. (Rebekah), Katelyn (Mickey), Jason (Lauren), Jonah (Jordan), Destiny (Christopher), Luke, Cole, John III, and Elizabeth Meyer (Blake).
He took immense pleasure in their accomplishments and was a constant source of wisdom and encouragement. His great-grandchildren, Naomi, Michael Howard III, Ava, Mia, Waylon, Nadia, Aurora, and Blake Jr., brought him immeasurable joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Michael's love extended to his sisters, Patricia Smith (Robert) and Judith Castigliola, as well as his nieces and nephew, Karen (Matthew), Liam, and Bryleigh. Michael grew up in a close-knit community and graduated from Chalmette High School, where he formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. He went on to build a successful career as a skilled welder at Elmwood Dry Dock, where his hard work and dedication were well respected by his colleagues. His professional life was marked by the same integrity and commitment that he brought to every aspect of his life. An avid outdoorsman, Michael found solace in the beauty of nature. He was passionate about hunting and fishing, pursuits that allowed him to connect with the earth and find peace. His happiest moments were often spent in the company of his great-grandchildren, sharing his love for the great outdoors and imparting his knowledge and skills. Those who knew Michael will remember him as a loving and generous man. His character was defined by his unwavering love for his family, his strong work ethic, and his willingness to help others.
Michael's spirit will forever be a part of the lives he touched, and his memory will be cherished for generations to come.
