Celsa Saravia Flores Parson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Celsa Saravia Flores Parson, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and dear friend, who left us at the age of 85. She was a loving wife of the late Marvin R. Parson. Caring mother to Cathy Parson, Julia Parson Loyacano (Vincent), Goldie Ruth Parson and Rosa Parson (Gilberto). Proud grandmother of Ivan Hoey (Jasmine), Alexis Duhon, Joshua Loyacano, Jonah Loyacano, Julian Loyacano, Jacob Loyacano and Victoria Loyacano; great-grandmother of Naveah Hartle, Delilah Hartle, Ashton Bailey, Ivan, Emarella and Kai Hoey; sister to Roberto Flores; daughter-in-law of Ms. Goldie Parson; aunt to many nieces and nephews. Loving aunt to Daniel Serrano (Earleen) and Elsa Bryan (Ron). She is preceded in death by her parents, Julia Saravia Flores and Francisco Flores; her grandson Noah Hartle III; her siblings, Angela, Maria, Minga, Clara, Blanca, Nena, Ramon, Vicente and Adolfo. Celsa of Honduras graduated from secretary school and worked in a law firm until she met the love of her life and moved to the United States. In her new home, she embraced the challenge of learning English and found fulfillment as a cashier in a local grocery store. Celsa came to America and attained the America dream. Yet, her most cherished role was as a homemaker, dedicated to raising her children and instilling in them a strong Christian faith through her involvement in the Catholic Church. She laid a solid spiritual foundation for her family that has endured through the years. Celsa was known for her compassionate spirit, infectious sense of humor and her unwavering generosity. Always ready to lend a hand to those in need without expecting anything in return. Her home was a safe haven for many, always open to those in need. Whether it was a warm meal, a listening ear, or a shoulder to lean on, she provided support without hesitation. She cherished her roots and loved traveling back to Honduras to visit family, finding joy in the connections that spanned generations. Her greatest happiness came from family gatherings, where laughter and love filled the air. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she treasured every moment spent with them. A lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish, she faced the challenges of Hurricane Katrina with resilience, ultimately relocating but never losing her deep ties to her community. Celsa’s legacy of love, faith, and generosity will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by a Funeral Mass starting at 1 p.m. to be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W.
