Just up the Mississippi River from St. Bernard Parish, awaiting anyone who wishes to view it, is a Bible printed in 1482, whose words today are exactly as they were more than 500 years ago and even more easily accessible now thanks to donor Tom Taylor and Hill Memorial Library’s engaging stewardship. Dr. John Miles presents an example of moveable type, dipped in ink, a technology that has born faithful witness to our words for centuries. Beat that Microsoft and Apple! Photos by Chris O’Connor
Hill Memorial Library is located at 95 Field House Dr., Baton Rouge, LA 70803
A place where everybody knows your name. Dr. John Miles (left) pointed out, for the readers of this paper, that Hill archives past editions of many Louisiana newspapers.
