Not long ago I presented a talk about the period of Joan of Arc, what armies ate at the time, and how their supplies traveled with them along with camp followers. The food that was eaten was not unflavorful, but was tedious just the same. This made for easier transport and cooking, but also contributed to the boredom of being a soldier.
