Members of the High Flying Owls Foundation, an endowment of the St. Bernard Kiwanis Foundation, were on hand for the St. Bernard Public School Board’s March 26 meeting in Chalmette to present three checks to the district totaling $33,000 in donations.
During a February appearance before the St. Bernard Parish Council, Chalmette Refining Manager Jerry Forstell said some of his plant’s philanthropic endeavors in the parish could be “impacted” by the council’s decision on a pair of tax exemptions.
