A recent story covered by a local television station raised a new threat to St. Bernard as a result of the LIT…18 wheelers crowding neighborhood streets.Apparently, this is a growing problem in New Orleans East as truckers have no place to park when their eleven- hour driving stint ends.

It is always fun to go looking for the next book or pamphlet to write this column. I always learn a lot. I wrote a piece a few weeks ago from a pamphlet that had been written by Warren Leruth to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his restaurant, LeRuth’s, on the westbank in Gretna.

St. Bernard Parish Public School System Students Excel at 2025 National Beta Convention in Orlando

Students from Chalmette High School, Lacoste Elementary, and N. P. Trist Middle School represented the St. Bernard Parish Public School System at the 2025 National Beta Convention, held June 26–29 at the Gaylord Palms Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

The welding bay at Nunez Community College has been busy this summer.Nunez Welding Program Chair Jesús Melendez has been leading the college’s annual Welding Summer Internship. Students practice fabricating and welding from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
