SBPG Hosts Public Meeting to Get Input on how to Use Grant Funding

In the evening of Tuesday, April 16, the St. Bernard Parish Government (SBPG) hosted a public meeting in the council chambers to discuss possible uses for funds the parish received from Community Development Block Grant from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for Disaster Recovery. In total, SBPG will have $1,958,708.34 available to use on projects that increase the resilience of public infrastructure impacted by storm events from 2020 and 2021.

Meraux Foundation Announces 2024 Scholarship Recipients

The Meraux Foundation is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2024 scholarship awards, continuing its longstanding commitment to supporting education in St. Bernard Parish. This year, the Foundation has awarded a total of 70 scholarships to deserving students for academic achievement, artistic accomplishment, Career Technical Education (CTE), and agricultural studies.

Early Voting for April 27 Election Quickly Approaches its End

Currently, St. Bernard Parish is in the midst of early voting for the April 27 election. Early voting is scheduled to end on Saturday, April 20 at 6 p.m. Residents who wish to participate in early voting must do so at the St. Bernard Parish Government (SBPG) building on Judge Perez Drive in Chalmette. Once early voting has ended, the last chance residents will have to participate in the election will be on the April 27 election day.

Our Lady of Prompt Succor Tomato Fest Set for April 19-21

The 73rd Our Lady of Prompt Succor Parish Tomato Festival will be from Friday, April 19 through Sunday, April 21 on the school/church grounds, 2320 Paris Road in Chalmette, promising good food, live entertainment with eight local bands and student performances, and a collection of all-time favorite carnival rides as well as a host of game booths.

SBSO Receives Officer Wellness Training

The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office held an officer wellness training session Monday (April 8) offered by Integrative Warrior Assistance, a non-profit organization that provides mental health and wellness referral resources for first responders and their families.
