Zeta Recovery Moving Along, but Questions about Cost Remain

Hurricane Zeta—the first hurricane to make direct impact with St. Bernard in 2020—hit the parish over two weeks ago, shutting down power for the vast majority of residents and causing widespread property damage. Since then, government officials and companies that operate in St. Bernard have been engaged in a feverish recovery effort. And while good progress has been made—in general, the normal day-to-day routine of St. Bernard residents has returned—the impacts of Zeta are still lingering.

Busy Election Day in St. Bernard

Despite a multitude of potential setbacks—namely, Covid-19 restrictions and the power outages caused by Hurricane Zeta— St. Bernard was able to go through with the 2020 election on Tuesday, November 3. While a good portion of votes came in either through mail-in ballots or early voting, those who wished to wait until Election Day were able to vote on Tuesday.
