On Tuesday, January 21, residents throughout St. Bernard Parish—and coastal Louisiana in general— woke to well-below freezing temperatures and mounds of snow covering their yards, roads, homes, and cars. This was due to a rare winter storm that spread out across much of the south, bringing snow and freezing temperatures in a region that rarely ever sees such conditions.
