CALLING IT HOME: Time May Be Short But It Keeps Going

Over the past decade, I have shared many times of personal joy and sorrow within the St. Bernard community. Recently after writing a memorial for a lady who lived a long and good life into her late nineties, I realized there is a time stamp on everyone.

As mentioned in an earlier article Jim Delery, Liz Williams of the Southern Food Beverage Museum, and I are putting together a two-day celebration highlighting our Sicilian community’s contributions to St. Bernard and the region.

Isleños Fiesta 2024

On Saturday, March 2 through Sunday, March 3, the Los Isleños Heritage & Cultural Society held its annual fiesta at the Los Isleños Museum Complex, 1357 Bayou Rd., in lower St. Bernard Parish. The event showcases the ethnic group's culture, heritage and cuisine.

25 YEARS AGO • Happy wedding anniversary to Sue and Stephen Doody. • Claudette Staiger Ponstein was crowned Empress XXVI of the Krewe of Gladiators. The coronation party was held at the Jackson Barracks Officers Club in October.
