Although Louisiana is faced with a multitude of serious problems, one politician in Baton Rouge has decided that a ban on cell phones is a priority. He wants to ban hand held cell phone use in motor vehicles throughout the state.

Legislators Gotta Have a Pay Raise

In case you missed the news bulletin, a number of legislators in Baton Rouge say they just have to have a big pay raise to survive. The initial proposal was for legislators to see a pay bump from the current $16,800 to $60,000. But it could be a big election issue. “Some people, if they vote for this, it could cost them an election,” said Rep Barry Ivey.”

SBVFC Awards Scholarships to Four St. Bernard Parish Students

The St. Bernard Chapter of the Louisiana Volunteers for Family and Community (SBVFC), an organization under the auspices of the LSU Agriculture Center, has awarded four scholarships for the 2023-2024 school year to residents of St. Bernard Parish. The funds for these scholarships were raised by the 2022 Christmas Fashion Show and Luncheon. The recipients are Peyton Adams, Samantha Mahler, Ava Adams, and Catherine Wilson from Chalmette High School.
