St. Bernard Schools maintain B grade
Despite the state Department of Education’s stricter formula for calculating district and school performance, St. Bernard Public Schools maintained its B grade.
District officials updated the St. Bernard Public School Board on the scores, which were released last week, during the board’s Nov. 13 meeting in Chalmette. Assistant Superintendent Mary Lumetta explained that the district has advanced as a whole and would have seen its score rise from a 98 to a 99 under last year’s formula, but under the 2018 formula St. Bernard schools finished with an 81.
Furthermore, each school in St. Bernard’s system, save for C.F. Rowley Atlernative School (more on Rowley in a bit), earned either an A or B progress grade. Four St. Bernard schools—Arabi Elementary, Joseph Davies Elementary, J.F. Gauthier Elementary and W. Smith Elementary—were designated as Top Gains schools.
