She was the daughter of the late Claire Reichert Roy and Edwin Main Roy. She is survived by "– her husband of 63 years; their eight children– M. Patricia Doody, Stephen Roy Doody (Sue), Claire E. Doody Glaviano, Shannon M. Doody Marrette (Lee), Timothy Patrick Doody (Ellen), Margaret J. Doody Price (Jamie), Kathleen Bridget Doody, and Sean Michael Doody (Beth); 21 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She also is survived by her siblings, Claire Roy Landry (Larry), Gerry Roy Mathews, and Edwin Main Roy Jr. (Judy); her nieces, nephews, many Reichert and Roy cousins, and long-time family friend Jeannette Abadie. She was a native and lifelong resident of Arabi, LA, until Katrina, August 29, 2005. Although she adjusted to life in Baton Rouge, she longed, until the day she died, to return home to Arabi. A graduate of LSU, Mimi worked for a short time as an elementary school teacher in St. Bernard Parish. She left teaching and began her true labor of love helping her father with his weekly newspaper, The St. Bernard Voice. Many will remember her Social Bits column. When her father passed away in May 1975, Mimi continued working at The Voice as business manager until Katrina sadly closed that chapter in her life. Family and friends were invited to attend the funeral mass in the chapel of Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home on Saturday, July 5, 2014. Visitation was held up until mass time. Interment followed at St. Louis #3 Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her name to The Claire Reichert Roy Foundation at the Greater New Orleans Foundation. Condolences may be expressed at
