Marie is the cherished sister of Jeanette Sietzen Capps of California, the late Sylvia Sietzen Gudan, and the late John Sietzen. She was the loving grandmother of Matthew James King, Patrick VanMechelen, Leslie VanMechelen, Peter VanMechelen, Zachary Redman and Holden Redman. She was also the step-grandmother to Christy Voelkel, Melissa Voelkel, Andrew Voelkel III (Emily) and Sarah Voelkel Killeen (Rob). She was blessed to be the great grandmother of Leilani Parramore and Lylah Parramore and the step-great grandmother of Sophia Voelkel and Theodore Voelkel. She is the oldest daughter of the late Lawrence Henderson Sietzen and the late Marie Olivia LaFrance Sietzen. She is also survived by many affectionate cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. In 1986, Marie retired from South Central Bell as an accounting supervisor after 32 years of accomplished service. While living in Chalmette she was a proud and devoted parishoner of Prince of Peace Catholic Church and received the Order of St. Louis for her years of dedicated service on the church's Parish Council and as the CCD director for over 25 years. As testament to Marie's strong faith, Easter and Christmas were her favorite times of the year where she loved to lavishly decorate with flowers and display her vast and wonderful Christmas village. She was a talented self taught artist and loved to tell stories of her family and past experiences. She was also a connoisseur of classical music, opera, dark chocolate, and family dinners.
