The public is invited to attend the free 76th Anniversary of the Plaquemines Parish Fair and Orange Festival this Saturday, December 3, and Sunday, December 4 at the Historic Fort Jackson in Buras. Friday Carnival rides only.

On Wednesday, December 7, the St. Bernard Broker Tour is hosting “Homes for the Holidays”, a parish-wide Twilight Open House event from 6 p.m.

The early voting period for the December 10 election is quickly approaching its end with it officially ending on Saturday, December 3 at 6 pm. If St. Bernard Parish residents do not cast their vote at the St. Bernard Parish Government Complex on Judge Perez Drive in Chalmette by the aforementioned deadline, their final chance to vote will be on the Saturday, December 10 election day.

In the former historic St. Bernard Voice office building on Mehle Street in Arabi, a new storefront has opened up, and the owner hopes to make the building—and his business—a staple of the Arabi community.

In last week’s column, I wrote about the aversion of a large number of Louisiana voters who were not in favor of any candidate on the ballot. Many voters just wanted to throw the bums out.

This Thanksgiving Americans still have much for which to be thankful. Indeed, we live with high crime, inflation, a broken border, and a dysfunctional government, but despite these problems, Americans still have to reflect on the good about us.

Life is a journey. How we travel that journey says so much.

With the holiday season near, many of us will find ourselves rushing from place to place, making lists, and stressing over finding the perfect gift for that special loved one.
