A group of St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office deputies has been spreading Christmas cheer for more than a decade by visiting deserving St. Bernard Parish families with Santa to deliver presents and some much-needed household items.

The Chalmette High School (CHS) football team was the recent beneficiary of a generous gift from Chuck and Rae Ann Williams, the owners of Meme’s Bar and Grille. After hearing about the logistical challenges and costs associated with the school groups traveling to a playoff game in Monroe, the Williams sprang into action, donating $2,500 to help cover the cost.

Steven “Steve” J. Cannizaro passed away on Monday, December 19 at his Chalmette home at the age of 71.

The first day of the Battle of New Orleans Historical Symposium will take place on January 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Nunez Community College Auditorium located at 3710 Paris Road, Chalmette. A free lunch will be served from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

En Plein Air Art was celebrated with a great show at the River House gallery at “ Crevasse 22.” The method En Plein air is about painting outside of the studio confines with the subject being mostly the natural landscape. Famous artists like Monet and Renoir began this method in the 1860s.
