Violet cyclist killed by impaired driver on Highway 39
A Youngsville man who struck and killed a Violet woman with his car March 1 remains in custody at the St. Bernard Jail on a $500,000 bond.
Michael Wagner, 49, allegedly struck Autumn Danna, 33, with his vehicle as Danna was riding a full-size tricycle along the shoulder of LA 39 around 2:45 p.m. near Maureen Lane. Danna was riding south when the 2019 Jeep Cherokee driven by Wagner, who was also driving south in the right lane, drifted onto the shoulder and struck the cyclist. Danna was rushed to University Medical Center but died from her injuries.
