St. Bernard Grand Jury indicts man on First Degree Murder
St. Bernard District Attorney Perry Nicosia announced that Matthew Squyres, a 35-year-old man, has been indicted for First Degree Murder. Squyres committed the murder while in the perpetration or attempted perpetration of an aggravated burglary.
District Attorney, Perry M. Nicosia, commented after the return of the indictment stating, “this was a heinous crime committed by Squyres against a former acquaintance of his. Violent crime will not be tolerated by St. Bernard law enforcement agencies.”
Around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, deputies responded to a call about a shooting in the 3600 block of Shangri-La Drive in Chalmette. When deputies arrived on the scene they observed bullet holes in the window of the residence. Deputies found an adult male victim lying on the floor, suffering from fatal gunshot wounds.
