Saturday Election: SBSO taxes, school board seat, justice of the peace
This Saturday, St. Bernard citizens will vote on a pair of tax renewals for the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office, School Board member for District 6 and Justice of the Peace for Ward C. The SBSO is seeking 10-year renewals on a .5 percent sales tax to fund salaries, training, juvenile and narcotics programs and four substations and five mills for salary increases and benefits for patrol deputies, detectives, narcotics agents, corrections officers and communications officers. The special election for the District 6 school board seat features sitting interim board member Carolon Craft, a democrat, facing off against republican Carly Jackson. In the Ward C race for Justice of the Peace, Beau Bowman faces fellow republican Tina Micheu.
