Officials with St. Bernard Parish Jail Sued for Deaths of Two Inmates
Nola.com reports that the St. Bernard Parish jail is being sued for the deaths of two inmates due to negligence regarding their detox procedure within the jail.
The families of Marvin Walker, 28, and Eddie Mixon Jr., 50—who died in early 2020 and late 2019 respectively—each claim that the St. Bernard Parish Jail failed to immediately administer detox medications despite the fact that both individuals informed officials they abused heroin and Xanax when they first arrived. The lawsuits also claim that Walker and Mixon were not given proper care even as their condition visibly worsened.
