Moolekamp receives Kiwani’s Lifesaver Award
On April 23, St. Bernard Kiwanis Club held it’s Second quarter Lifesaver Award Night for the St. Bernard Fire Department.
Kiwanis President Ellis Fortinberry presented the Award to St. Bernard Fire Department District Chief Michael Moolekamp, a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish who started his career with the St. Bernard Parish Fire Department in December of 1990. He attended the LSU Fire Academy for 10 weeks and came out nationally certified as a Firefighter II. He currently works on the department’s First Platoon and is in charge of the second fire district.
During his 29 years of service, he has responded to many emergencies in Parish history, including refinery fires, commercial building fires, a ship fire, hurricanes and numerous other emergency incidents. He has distinguished himself over his career which is a testament to his dedication and professionalism.
