District Attorney, three 34th JDC Judges unopposed on Nov. 3 ballot

Qualifying for the Nov. 3 election closed last week, but a slew of local candidates are already preparing for their new term in office come January.

Seventeen St. Bernard offices had just one candidate sign up to run, including the district attorney, one Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals judge, three 34th Judicial District Court judges, five justices of the peace and seven constables.

District Attorney Perry Nicosia will begin his second full six-year term in January. He finished the remainder of longtime St. Bernard DA Jack Rowley’s term at the end of 2014 when the 83-year-old Rowley passed away in office. Nicosia then began his first full term in January 2015.
