The Louisiana State Bond Commission voted to approve a $3 million budgetary loan to the St. Bernard Parish Hospital at their February 20 meeting. “This loan will ensure that necessary medical services continue for Chalmette area residents,” said State Treasurer John Kennedy. The Bond Commission’s approval will have no effect on the hospital’s operations, according to the Hospital Board Chairman Jim DiFatta. The hospital recently repaid a previous $3 million loan, and the Bond Commission was essentially allowing the hospital to renew that line of credit.
