Adventures and young blues phenomenon part of library’s summer reading program next week
Summer is heating up and so are things at the St. Bernard Parish Library. The 2020 Imagine Your Story Virtual Summer Reading Program is growing just like Jack’s magic beanstalk! The library’s online events are better than a golden harp or a goose that lays a golden egg and we are adding more programs, crafts, and story times every day. It’s not too late to join in the fun. Everyone is invited to visit the library’s summer reading webpage at mysbpl.org/srp2020.
Page Turner Adventures will dominate our fifth week of fun starting on Monday, June 29 with their ‘I magine your Musical Story’ theme. There’s sure to be lots of looney tunes! Kids will travel back in time via a Time Machine Piano to help save Lud-wig Von Beethoven from the musical machinations of the villain, Dr. Crescendo, and his cacophonous cryptic codes. Then they’ll make Australian clapping sticks and mini African drums. Older kids will create sharpie tie-dye tee-shirts and bat puppets (Hey, they use echolocation! It works with the music theme). Featured writer this week is the awesome Sherri Winston, author of The Sweetest Sound, Jada Sly, Artist and Spy. Helping the Page Turner and Kenny close out a melodious week will be guest performer Miles Hoyt, a 10-year-old blues playing phenomenon.
